Bushwalking grade and other information

Walks are graded on the following points system

Adding the points for each category gives the overall walk grade:
Points Length Points Height (up & down) Points Track Quality
1 10 Km 1 300 m 1 Excellent
2 15 Km 2 300 - 600 m 2 Average
3 20 Km 3 600 - 900 m 3 None / scrambling
4 20 + Km 4 900 + m 4 Ropework
Easy = 3 - 4 pts; Medium = 5 - 7 pts; Long = 8 - 10 pts; Hard = 11 - 12 pts

Walks marked exploratory are not familiar to the leader, so the grade is a guess! If you are in doubt about the suitability of a walk for you, talk to the leader.

As an example, the Valley of the Waters, Blue Mountains is graded easy.
